<p> The research, conducted by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), highlights a rapid fall in smoking prevalence amongst professional groups in recent years, with much slower reductions amongst routine and manual groups.</p>
<p> Duncan Bannatyne of BBC&#8217;s Dragons Den who is No Smoking Day president, says &#8220;The finding show that although we are managing to control the smoking epidemic amongst those who are reasonably well off, cigarettes are the primary cause of inequal health in this county.”</p>
<p> “The good news is most smokers want to quit, and with the expectation that expected that nearly a million people will stop on No Smoking Day 2010, the downward trend in smoking prevalence continues&#8221;. Add this to the NHS Stop Smoking Services, there probably hasn&#8217;t been a better time to stop smoking &#8211; you are 4 times more likely to succeed with this type of support.”</p>
<p> Assistant Director of Tobacco Studdies, Andy McEwen from University College London says: “We know it is not due to difference in motivation to quit but those from poorer backgrounds do seem to find it hard to succeed. This may be due to a number of factors: availability of cigarettes, less sympathetic environment and higher levels of nicotine dependence are possibilities”.</p>
<p> Duncan Bannatyne today launches the No Smoking Day campaign with a new website for smokers (ww.wequit.co.uk) featuring a version of the Queen hit &#8216;I want to break free&#8217;.</p>
<p> The No Smoking Day campaign, now in its 27th year, is run by a charity of the same name in collaboration with a range of UK public health agencies.</p>

Even though you long to quit smoking you may postpone it indefinitely because it is never easy to break a habit of this nature. From my personal experience I know how difficult it is because two of my brothers who had got into the habit of smoking took great pains to quit and finally they did it with the help and support of the other siblings. <p>The first step to quitting smoking is very tough because you have got yourself addicted to nicotine and also to a routine, ie: smoking a cigarette after breakfast, lunch, dinner etc., and even in between while working in your office. The intake of Nicotine increases the discharge of dopamine into your brain which gives you a pleasant, tranquil feeling. In order to conquer this you may often need to shift to a product which would give you a tiny dose of nicotine (nicotine replacement therapy) such as chewing gum or munching lozenges etc., until such time you can eventually get rid of nicotine from your entire system. But all in all you would require a very strong mental control which would drive you to achieve your target to stop smoking.</p>
<p><strong>Health factor</strong></p>
<p>More than half of the smokers die from smoking- related diseases. When a person is fully aware of the effects of smoking they may try to reduce and gradually come out of the habit. Furthermore smoking may affect your love life, after a smoke your breath remains of smoke for hours, most common symptoms of smokers are; stained teeth, yellow fingers and frequent coughs.</p>
<p>Smoking leads to mouth related cancers involving the lips, tongue and nose. The cancer can then spread to other parts of the body such as; lungs, bones, brain etc.</p>
